Train Simulator Cheats

Train Simulator is a game for the PC in which you try to become a train magnate by designing your own trains and train routes. You control every aspect of the game which can be incredibly daunting yet rewarding. Like any game, this game has many cheats, hints and tips that can help you perform better in the game or simply have fun.

Go 200-plus mph

This cheat will allow you to go over 200 mph. This speed is impossible in real trains but it is a fun and difficult challenge in this game. Start by selecting simple controls in the options. This simplifies your controls and makes this cheat easier. Select Innsbruck to St. Anton as your route, starting in St. Anton. The Flying Scotsman should be your train. Once you've started the game, detach from the train and press the D button. You will begin gaining speed. Make sure the regulator gets up to 100 percent. Your train will begin gaining ridiculous amounts of speed until it is topping 200 mph. Controlling the train at this speed is a fun challenge.

Secret Command Lines

Type in command lines to help you control your game. Typing "/anisotropic" will increase the visual aspect of your game. The phrase "/fsaa" will allow full screen anti-aliasing, which will improve your graphic effects. Command lines also can help you troubleshoot graphical issues. Type "/forcemaskz" to fix blocky smoke effects and use "/pixbias" to fix blocky text. When there are visible seams in the cab of your train, type "/nofiltercab" to fix those seams. Distorted or missing text is fixed with "/ttfblitfix" while "/skipsizecheck" will skip the texture size limit check. Simplify your clipping mode, which will eliminate "snowy" graphical distortions by typing "/simpleclipping."

Fun Tips

Some keypad commands are simply fun to play around with while you're driving your train. Pressing F8 will bring up a picture of your train with two areas. If you press the direction you are going, you will switch tracks. This can only be done when you are next to available tracks. Scare off any wildlife (or simply raise some racket) by pressing H. This will activate your horn. Holding the button will cause you to hold the horn for as long as you like. Finally, one keypad shortcut for the morbid: pressing Alt, Q, and A at the same time will blow up your train. Passengers will come running out, crying and screaming.
