Things To See In New York City At Christmas

New York City at Christmas is a special place.

New York City is a wonderful place to be around Christmas time. Taking pictures in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, Ice Skating in Rockefeller Center, Christmas shopping, and watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade are all things tourists often do while in New York City at Christmas time. While those are all very fun and time-worthy things to do, there are other things to do in New York City during this time of year that many people may not know about.

Bed and Breakfast

Although the prices may be steep, staying at a bed and breakfast in New York City during Christmas time is a memory-making experience. Reservations can be made ahead of time at BedandBreakfast.com. You would get a feeling of being away from the city crowds along with having the convenience and magical experience of being in the city.

Window Displays

The windows of some department stores in New York City put on holiday shows. Many of them have actors, set designers, composers and engineers. Make this an unforgettable day or night out in New York City. Start off by warming up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from one of the many coffee shops in the city. With a warmed up body, start at Saks Fifth Avenue, followed by Lord and Taylor and Macy's and gawk at the spectacular array of holiday d cor. Department stores such as Macy's, Lord and Taylor, and Saks Fifth Avenue have holiday window displays that you will not want to miss.

Cirque Du Soleil

Seeing a show in New York City is a must-do when visiting. However, seeing Wintuk, a Cirque Du Soleil show, is a nice change of pace compared to the usual Nutcracker or Lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on Cirquedusoleil.com. Arrive at the show an hour early, and get situated and seated and enjoy the show.

Christmas Train Ride

If the trip to New York City is a family trip that includes small kids, take a Disney's "A Christmas Carroll" train ride which boards at Grand Central Station. It is not only geared toward kids, it is interesting for the whole family. Arrive at Grand Central Station early and enjoy the train ride.

Grand Central Holiday Fair

If you can't make it in time for the Disney train ride, Grand Central Terminal has a holiday fair that takes place through the bulk of the season. Make sure to have extra cash because there will be all types of handpicked vendors, artisans and craftspeople from all over.
