What To Wear To A Nascar Race

NASCAR Races Are an All-Day Event.

For many people, NASCAR is an American pastime equal to the likes of apple pie and lifted trucks. The sport has grown, fueled by a cult-like following of die-hard fans. People proudly stick the number of their favorite driver to just about anything. For an outsider, this fanatical club seems a bit overwhelming. But it's easy to blend in with the right outfit.

What to Expect

NASCAR can become an all-day event. Although the race time varies, the race itself often lasts anywhere from three to five hours. To beat the traffic and long lines, many people arrive early to enjoy a tailgate party before going into the stadium for the race.

Comfort

A crucial aspect of any outfit is the comfort level. You will first want to dress accordingly for the weather. On a hot summer day, shorts and a T-shirt are the best choices to avoid overheating during the race because you likely will be sitting in the sun. Go for something with your favorite driver emblazoned on it. If it is cold, substitute with jeans and a sweatshirt to keep warm. Be sure to bring a water-proof jacket if there is a chance of rain. Also, wearing sunglasses and a hat are recommended. Finally, if you are sensitive to loud noises, earplugs are a necessity as the cars are extremely loud when they pass by.

Style

True fans never leave the house without the number of their driver, whether it's on their key chain, stuck to their car or tattooed to their skin. Before going to the race, make sure you have something to show who you are going to support. Most common are T-shirts or hats donning the number of a favorite racer. You can buy just about anything with a driver's number on it.
