Nike has presented the Pro Combat uniform to 10 college football teams.
In the fall of 2010, Nike unveiled its new Pro Combat line of athletic wear. The Pro Combat line introduces new Nike technology to football with specially-designed uniforms for 10 college teams.
Pro Combat Base Layer
Pro Combat base layers are worn underneath the Pro Combat uniform. Base layers provide superior breathability with compression tops made of Dri-FIT fabric, strategically placed ventilation pores in front and airflow fabric in the back. Compression shorts incorporate plastic thigh pads covered with molded compression foam to reduce bulk and dual-density foam cells at the hips, thighs and tailbone for optimum impact protection.
Pro Combat Uniform
According to Kirs Aman, Global VP and General Manager of Nike Athletic Training and Field Sports, "The designs incorporate cultural cues emblematic of each team's identity and heritage. They're more than uniforms, they're expressions of pride." Pro Combat uniform designs make them 37 percent lighter than current uniforms with Dri-FIT, moisture-wicking fabric jersies and four-way stretch twill pants. Nike Flywire technology adds durability and mobility in the high-impact shoulder region, and strategic ventilation prevents moisture build-up from adding more weight. Uniforms are also decorated with individual traits that serve as trademarks of the team.
Pro Combat College Teams
The Nike Pro Combat uniform were worn during certain games in the 2010 season by Alabama, Boise State, Florida, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Texas Christian University, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
