The EA Download Manager, offered by Electronic Arts, is a one-stop program for managing all your Electronics Arts digital content, from wallpapers and game add-ons to full digital copies of PC games. This program used to be called EA Link and EA Downloader. The EA Download Manager is a free program that you can download from the Electronic Arts website.
Downloading Games
When you purchase a game through the EA Store, you can choose to have it delivered to your computer via digital download. EA Download Manager not only handles the downloading of your game, but also provides a place for downloading extra content for your game, if any is available, as well as any patches or fixes that the game may later require. Some games offer extra content for free if you download the game via the EA Store. You can redownload a game -- for instance, in the event of a computer crash -- for up to a year using the EA Download Manager.
Using EADM on Multiple PCs
When you purchase a game from the EA Store, that game is stored in your personal account so that you can access it on more than one computer. You can install and play games purchased via the EA Store on up to four computers. You may be prompted to log in to the EA Download Manager to verify your account before playing the game to help prevent piracy.
Security Setting Errors
Because EA Download Manager is based on Internet Explorer, settings in Internet Explorer can cause issues in EA Download Manager. If your security settings are set to the maximum in Internet Explorer, you will need to lower them for EA Download Manager to work properly. If you have firewall software on your computer, add EA Download Manager as "Allowed." This setting is sometimes also called "Exceptions," depending on your firewall program.
NVIDIA 4 Motherboard Errors
If your computer uses an NVIDIA 4 motherboard, you may encounter errors running EA Download Manager. To allow your NVIDIA 4 motherboard system to run EA Download Manager, you will need to open the Task Manager by pressing "Alt," "Ctrl" and "Del" simultaneously on your keyboard. Select the "Processes" tab, and end the following processes: "apache.exe," "ntrayfw.exe," "nsvcip.exe," "nsvcappflt.exe" and "nsvclog.exe." Your system will warn against ending these processes; click "Yes" to stop the processes. When you reboot your computer, these processes will run again.
