Where To Donate Clothes

Donating clothes is an efficient way to get rid of clothes that you have outgrown, become tired of or do not have enough room for. Donation takes a little more effort than throwing old items away, but it benefits others in a way the trash can can't. There are many places and ways to donate your older clothing items. Here are a few of them.

Instructions

1. Look for a Salvation Army or Goodwill location. They often have drop-off boxes in shopping centers that make it convenient for you to leave your unwanted outfits. Proceeds from Goodwill and Salvation Army stores support the groups' charitable initiatives.

2. Donate your clothing to a homeless shelter. Look for homeless shelters in your area, either through the phone book or online. Homeless shelters are full of needy people who could benefit from your generosity.

3. Give your items to a vintage boutique or a thrift shop. If you happen to have attire that you believe to be good quality, consider giving it to a vintage or thrift shop. Vintage stores are especially receptive to clothing from the 1970s and the earlier decades.

4. Leave your clothes at a church or other religious organization, such as a synagogue or a mosque. Every town and city has churches and other places for worship. Churches are always looking for ways to help those in need.

5. Ask your friends and family if they need anything. You might not have to go far to donate your old clothes. Do you have any friends or family that might appreciate your hand-me-downs? Ask around and you might be able to find someone near and dear to you who would love to take your old items.
