What Is The Value Of Vintage Schwinn Bicycles

Vintage Schwinn bicycles aren't necessarily valuable, but many people collect them.

Schwinn bicycles became the dominant brand sold in the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s, especially to children. Because so many were made, they do not have great value as collectibles.

Value and Collectibility

Schwinn manufactured millions of bicycles in its heydey. Because of this, very few Schwinn models are considered collectible. In particular, women's bicycles have very little value as collectibles.

Value

To estimate the value of a Schwinn bike, find its serial number, which should be stamped under the crank, by the rear axle, or between the front forks. Search this serial number online to determine the date of manufacture. Once you know the date of manufacture, search online auction sites such as eBay to see the selling price of that particular model.

Popular Styles

According to Love to Know Antiques, two of the most popular Schwinn bicycle models were Black Phantoms and Sting Rays. Black Phantoms are a collectible model because they are hard to find. Sting Rays are recognizable by their raised handlebars and banana seats.
