What Liquids Help Grass Grow Faster

Fertilizing your lawn is a key element to maintaining its density and color.

Liquid fertilizers deliver nutrients to a lawn's leaves and root system faster than granule fertilizers and with more immediate results. Finding the right liquid to fertilize your lawn with depends on the soil nutrient content and how much time and effort you want to put in to maintaining the grass. Does this Spark an idea?

Liquid Compost Fertilizer

According to GardenGuides.com, liquid compost fertilizer is created by boiling nutrient rich compost in water much the same way tea is made. The result is a liquid with all the growing power of the bulky compost that you may spread over the lawn. With more nutrients available, the grass will develop a stronger root system and grow faster. The process of creating the "compost tea" takes roughly four days and involves straining and aerating the solution to allow it time to set properly. Adding the solution to your grass too soon could cause damage to the plants.

Liquid Manure Fertilizer

Liquid manure fertilizers deliver nutrients immediately to lawns leaves and root system, according to Plant-Care.com. Manure fertilizers are available in concentrated forms that are watered down for lawn application. Organic liquid fertilizers such as manure release nutrients over time allowing for a fuller looking lawn and do not require repeated applications as other liquid fertilizers do. Liquid manure does have one drawback---the smell. This can potentially cause a problem if you have a big yard and your neighbors live close by.

Synthetic Liquid Fertilizers

Synthetic liquid fertilizers are manufactured with specific chemical concentrations of nutrients. These fertilizers can be tailored to meet different growing needs, to take advantage of soil composition or provide nutrients that may be lacking. The growing results with these fertilizers are immediate but not long-lasting. You will need to reapply synthetic liquid fertilizers to maintain growing strength. Failure to reapply the lawn fertilizer could result in grass prematurely withering.
