Travel your city like a tourist to meet interesting people.
If you could snap your fingers and your dream date would magically appear on the sofa cuddled up next to you, your life would be complete. Unfortunately, finding Mr. or Mrs. Right is going to take as much dedication as you have put into completing school or achieving career success. You start by interacting with other singles in your area. The more people you meet, the better your chances are in meeting the right person for you.
Go Online
Social-networking sites have instant chat capabilities, space for pictures of yourself and areas to tell other people about you. Use the Internet to your advantage to increase your reach and expand your dating pool options. Elizabeth Shimer Bowers suggests in the book, "1001 Ways to Meet Mr. Right" that you use a search engine to locate events in your local area by typing in your city name and the word "singles" to find restaurants, bars and other events that may be happening locally.
Go to Church
Many Christians prefer getting involved with a person of faith; for these people, there may be no better place to meet other Christians than in church. Your church may have a singles ministry; join it. Churches offer multiple events that will give you regular opportunities to meet people and reconnect with interesting prospects. The more you attend Bible study, Sunday school, retreats and revivals, the greater your chances of being discovered or discovering someone you never thought was so interesting before. Churches also offer comfortable date events like gospel concerts. Also, volunteer to teach and help organize to give you more exposure. Female elders in churches can be motherly and take it upon themselves to introduce you to other singles.
Throw a Party
Put yourself in the driver's seat and throw a small party for singles. That way, you're in your comfort zone. Let potential suitors get to know you by rummaging through your things and looking at your pictures on the wall. They'll feel closer to you by you opening up your home. Tell your friends to invite some of their single friends. Invitations from friends and having mutual friends can be an endorsement that suggests you're a good person to know.
Go Back to School
Find a class being offered at the local community college that teaches something you've always wanted to learn. Other local singles will be there as well. Right off, you know you have one thing in common with your interest in the same subject. Also, as you're seeking to better yourself, it will help to build your confidence. Confidence shows -- and is attractive to others. The positive energy you feel from adding to your life will be the same energy that you give out.
