Value Of Charity Donations

Charity donations are gifts made from an individual or organization to a non-profit organization, for people in need or distress. The gifts can be in the form of cash, clothing, or skilled or unskilled services. Organizations to which such gifts are made (charitable organizations) are set up to assist people in need and distress, and often depend on these gifts for this purpose.

Relief

Charity donations reduce or remove the needs or sufferings of the people to which charitable organizations direct the donations. Often helpless, such people are in desperate need of assistance. They may be underprivileged children whose parents are too poor to feed or shelter them, victims of a natural disaster like flood, or people suffering from life-threatening illnesses such as stroke. Gift food items or money can go a long way in relieving their distress, while the services of able-bodied people who volunteer to regularly wheel a stroke patient to a clinic or hospital will reduce the patient's hardships.

Personal Upliftment

Donations to charity are acts of giving, which have many benefits. Experts have shown that giving can improve a person's physical, psychological and emotional states. For instance, the volunteer who needs to walk some distance every morning from his residence to the location of a charitable organization to offer some free medical assistance gains physically. He exercises his body with the regular early morning walk. Similarly, experts have shown that volunteering increases the giver's feeling of emotional and psychological well-being. Volunteering can greatly improve his mood, reduce her emotional disturbances and increase his self-confidence..

Tax Reduction

You can claim tax reductions if you donate to certain charitable organizations, such as synagogues and non-profit veteran organizations. The tax reductions you claim will be the equivalent of the monetary or non-monetary items you donate. Not only will you gain the satisfaction of having contributed to the relief of those in need, you will also gain relief from part, perhaps a very large part, of your financial obligations.

Empowering Charitable Organizations

Donations to charity, especially non-monetary donations like vehicles or clinics, will increase the capacity of charitable organizations to fulfill their worthy purposes. Such organizations can invest charity donations, such large sums of money, in shares and stocks, and use the proceeds to serve a larger number of people. This way, charity donations can serve long-term humanitarian purposes, many years after the donor gave to the organization.

Potential Investment

While you do not hope to fall into distress or severe need in the near or distant future, you should not rule out the possibility. You could one day become a great beneficiary of your large donations to charity. Those dispensaries you built or the vehicles and farmland you donated, could one day serve you when you find yourself in need. Your donations will then appear to you like a wise long-term investment, which you will thank yourself for having made.
