Work Ethics 101

Adopt good work ethics at your business.


Knowing right from wrong and having an ability to demonstrate integrity and honesty in the workplace are necessary qualities for anyone who wants to succeed professionally. Whether your business is a downtown office or a one-room home-based business, you want to learn prioritize your actions, so you bring the greatest good to your organization. Learning work ethics is moderately easy.


Instructions


1. Demonstrate honesty in your communications and behaviors. Be honest about your abilities and own up to mistakes as promptly possible. Honesty at work is paramount to good ethics.


2. Arrive on time and comply with deadlines. Whether you work individually or within a team, show accountability to fellow workers and management by being on time and finishing projects as requested.


3. Work to the best of your ability and avoid diminishing work performance as a result of boredom. Strive to meet company goals and maintain a consistent level of performance. You don't want to be the weakest chain in the link. As a side note: Participate in work-sponsored activities to resist boredom and improve performance.


4. Seek a mentor to learn new skills and competencies. Rather than whine about job dissatisfaction, seek opportunities for advancement. Work is not the place to complain about a lack of opportunities.


5. Support company culture. Build strong relationships with co-workers by complying with company rules and supporting the overarching culture of the organization. You want to be a positive force at work, not a negative one.
