The Best Scrapbook Supplies

Use the best supplies to commemorate your favorite family moments.

Thousands of scrapbooking products are on the market and it can be difficult to determine which items are essential, which items you will use for many pages and which items are worth the cost. Many of the best items come with a low price tag and allow you to create multiple pages.

Sticker Machine

Buy a machine that will turn almost anything into a sticker. The adhesive product makes the item stick to the page much better than a traditional glue stick. Also use it to turn paper pieces into stickers at a fraction of the cost.

Craft Knife

Use a craft knife to trim out images for paper pieces. Use it to scour the edge of a paper to make a jagged page border.

Spatula and Tweezers

Some items can easily tear if you handle them in a rough manner. Buy a tiny spatula and pair of tweezers to help you handle small items such as stickers, beads, rhinestones and brads.

Punches

Invest in a variety of punches for a quick method to decorate any page. Use circle and square punches to adhere to the top of your page. Add letters to the punch outs for the title. Buy other punches that coordinate with multiple pages. For example, use a butterfly punch to decorate several of your daughter's pages or a baseball punch for an avid athlete. Border punches are available to seamlessly create a page border.

Journal Notes

Add a whimsical effect to your page with journal cards, notes or papers. Use a card with an antiqued finish for a page honoring your parents. A journal entry on notebook paper is an appropriate addition for a child's school page. A notation from a day planner provides a real-world addition.

Foam

Make your journal pages three dimensional by adding foam under embellishments. Add foam under a paper or felt flower to make it pop off the page. Place foam under title letters to bring visual interest to the title.

Paper

An artillery of paper is necessary for personalized pages. Invest in solid color pages, specialty paper, patterned paper and themed paper. Be sure all paper items you use are acid-free to avoid damaging your pictures.
