Things To Do In Chicago In October

October is a great month in Chicago.


Chicago is a city that offers a wide variety of activities throughout the entire year. There is no shortage of activities in the fall months, including October. If you find yourself living in Chicago or visiting Chicago in the month of October, there are plenty of outdoor and indoor activities throughout the city.


Chicago Marathon


One of the most famous marathons in the country, the Chicago Marathon invites all runners, joggers and walkers who want to participate in this historic race. The race usually takes place in the first half of October because of the ideal weather conditions that are usually present at that time in the fall. Even if you are not participating in the marathon, the event is highly inspirational to watch and is open to spectators. The finish line is located on the South Side of Chicago on Roosevelt Road. The Chicago Marathon is a great October activity because in encourages both runners and spectators to take advantage of the fall weather before winter arrives in Chicago.


Chicago Country Music Festival


Although the summer is prime time for outdoor festivals, the Chicago Country Music Festival is an annual event that occurs at the beginning of October. The festival takes place in Millennium Park, a large outdoor city park near downtown Chicago. Millennium Park is home to the Pritzker Pavilion, a large outdoor amphitheater known for its architectural design and pristine sound quality. There are also smaller stages set up around the park where you can watch smaller acts and participate in country western line dancing.

Eli's Cheesecake Festival


One thing Chicago is known for is its food. Although the main attraction for food festivals is the Taste of Chicago in July, Eli's Cheesecake Festival is an annual event that has been happening in October since 1996. The festival takes place in the Dunning neighborhood of Chicago, located on the far North Side of the city. This is a local festival celebrating cheesecake and other foods. The festival proceeds benefit local charities. Along with great food, the festival offers live music on a stage that is set up in the park.
