Veterinary Technician Schools In San Diego Area

Veterinary assistants are dedicated to helping animals of all kinds.

Veterinary assistants are dedicated to helping domestic and exotic animals of every shape and size. Their responsibilities include helping the veterinary team, feeding and bathing animals and administering medication as prescribed by the veterinarian. Veterinary assistants are needed in a wide range of environments, including private veterinary clinics, animal hospitals and animal shelters. San Diego has several veterinary technician programs, both public and private.

San Diego Mesa College

Helping domestic animals stay healthy is an extremely rewarding career.

San Diego Mesa College's Animal Health Technician program prepares students for the California Veterinary Assistant (RVT) exam in addition to earning an Associate in Science certificate. This is San Diego's only public option for veterinary technician training.

Accredited by the California Veterinary Board, this 23-course program strives to provide a learning environment for the development of technical skills, personal attributes and ethical principles necessary to serve as a professional in the veterinary field. This is not a pre-veterinary medical program. In addition to the directed clinical practice internship, students are given the opportunity to work with a wide range of domestic and exotic animals while in the program.
