Who Owns Metro Petro Gas Stations

Clay and Mia Lambert are the owners of the Metro Petro Gas Station in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Metro Petro Gas is a station in Minneapolis which opened in 2008. Owners Clay and Mia Lambert remodeled a former Citgo gas station after managing that store for six years. The store has expanded its space in order to offer more grocery items and has also increased its staff.

Creating Metro Petro

The Metro Petro Gas Station was approved for redevelopment on Feb. 27, 2007, after the purchase of the former Citgo station by Clay and Mia Lambert. The station's redevelopment was supported by community groups in the University of Minnesota neighborhood it is located in, including the Prospect Park East River Road Improvement Association, according to the Bridgeland News. "That (support was) the catalyst that pushed it over at the very end," Lambert told the newspaper.

Expanding Metro Petro

Metro Petro has expanded since its opening in 2008. According to the Twin Cities Daily Planet, the store has expanded its retail space from 175 feet to more than 3,000 feet. Metro Petro has also grown its staff from four to 16 people. The beverage area has also grown with 14 cooler doors and a walk-in beverage area, according the report. The space allows for flexibility, including the ability to hold neighborhood meetings in the store.

Environmental Efforts

Clay and Mia Lambert have focused on making the Metro Petro Gas Station environmentally friendly, which includes a more efficient heating and cooling system for the store. Metro Petro also has an electronically controlled car wash, which doesn't waste as much water or energy as other types of car washes. Metro Petro is also unusual because it has chosen not to have a large roadside sign with its gas prices on it, instead choosing to only display prices near the pump.

Metro Petro products

Metro Petro has been able to offer more product selection because of its expanded retail space. Among the new offerings are the Monster-branded car wash outside the store. Inside the store, Metro Petro sells Justice Brothers automotive protection products, including engine leak stop and octane booster. Metro Petro also has a variety of over-the-counter medicines, Minnesota Lottery items, snack chips and beverages, including gallon jugs of Arizona Iced Tea.
