What Are The Symptoms & Causes Of Dehydration

Insufficient Water Intake

There are some occasions in which an insufficient supply of water is consumed. This can happen if you're stranded for a long time or lost in the woods. In this instance, the body can become dehydrated. This can lead to headaches, dizziness, extreme thirst and a very dry mouth.

24-Hour Virus

The 24-hour virus is caused by contracting a flu bug. This comes equipped with violent episodes of diarrhea and vomiting. During this period, the body loses an excessive amount of water and dehydration can set in. Some symptoms would be extreme thirst, dark-colored urine and dizziness.

Physical Activity

When you exercise, the body loses a lot of water through sweat--especially in high temperatures. If you don't replenish this fluid loss, you can become dehydrated easily. Some of the symptoms are dizziness, dry skin and even unconsciousness.

Alcohol

Alcohol causes impaired judgment, slowed reaction time and can also lead to addiction. But it can also cause dehydration. Alcohol is a diuretic that flushes potassium out of the body, which causes thirst. Alcohol-induced dehydration can lead to faintness, muscle cramps and dizziness.
